Brokeback Mountain

Having had no urge whatsoever to see Brokeback Mountain when it was on in the cinema a few years ago, I felt I needed to watch it when it was on television the other evening, if only to find out what it’s like. Daughter felt the same way, but interestingly we couldn’t agree on what we thought of it.

On the whole, Daughter liked it, whereas I didn’t, much. The photography was stunning, and I enjoyed the film from a pure ‘art’ point of view. Neither the plot nor the characters engaged me, and I like a good love story as well as the next person, even if it can’t have a happy ending.

And somehow I don’t think it’s the beautiful scenery that got all the attention, so maybe I’m missing something.
